Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Shokudai Candle Stand
This item is a Japanese vintage Buddhist altar candle holder stand. This large, tall, bronze metal candlestick is brown and has a very simple design. The stick part fits into a plate-like base piece and holds on via a nut on the underside. There is a hook that likely holds decorative tassels or candle utensils. The bottom plate has floral cutouts on the raised sides. This type of shokudai is used primarily in temples. Candlestands or candlesticks are basic Buddhist tools used in most sects and essentials for Buddhist altars (Butsudan).
