Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Scroll
This Japanese vintage paper hanging scroll (kakejiku) features an image of the Buddha, Shaka Nyorai in Japanese. It is a central scroll, or gohonzon, a powerful religious image, aimed to be at the center of an altar. This kakejiku is for the Soto and Rinzai schools, two Zen Buddhist schools. It is dark blue and red with a gold floral pattern. The image is yellow, brown, blue, green, red, and purple.
