Vtg Japanese Clay Cow Zodiac Decoration
This is a small vintage Japanese clay figurine of a cow. It is lightweight and is painted a matte red color. There are abstract painted white plum blossoms and gold accents on the horns, nose, and side.
Cow, or ushi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
