Japanese Decorative Imitation Sword
This is a vintage Japanese decorative imitation sword. The blade is made of simple metal (no cutting edge) with a metal guard (tsuba) and a handle made of black fabric and wood. The guard is simple and depicts plum blossoms. Woven into the handle are gold fish charms called menuki. The sheath is wood coated with black lacquer and gold tape decoration.
Often used in stage plays, traditional theatre, historical reenactments, during festivals, and for general cosplay, imitation swords are also a popular decorative object.
