Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku

This is a vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) representing a Buddhisatsva standing on a lotus flower. This Buddhist kakejiku is in a black-and-white epurated drawing style. This piece is dated and signed by Miyao Yamada and a red seal. 

Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
