Vintage Japanese Standing Ouchi Lantern Set for Obon Festival w/Box
This is a vintage Japanese electric Ouchi lantern set of two. Ouchi lanterns are standing lanterns with three legs that are displayed during the summer Obon festival to commemorate ancestors. The synthetic fabric lanterns are white with large images of peonies, chrysamthemums, and a distant temple. They fit snuggly on their plain black plastic frames with gold designs. They fit semi-flat in the original box. They have electric lights with a plastic blue covering that spins when the lightbulb becomes warm. There are two long white tassels that hang from the top piece on each.
