Vintage Japanese Ceramic Lipped Bowl

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic lipped bowl, or katakuchi. It has a light beige crackled glaze and has small handles on the sides for better grip when pouring. The spout is large and the top of the bowl has an overhanging edge.

This type of lipped small bowls is called katakuchi. They are traditional bowls now used as sauce pitchers and condiment bowls. They can also be used during tea ceremony to serve matcha.
