Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Orin Bell with Lacquered Wood Stand
This is a vintage Japanese orin bell for Buddhist altars. It contains a brass metal bowl with a dark brown wooden striker. It rests on a red and pink silk pillow with a white tassel, as well as on a square wooden lacquered gold and red stand.
Singing bowls are sounded during ritual prayer.
Orin bell sound can reach the Buddha in the Pure Land. It is also used to ward off people's evil spirits and convey prayers to the Buddha, ancestors, and the deceased through sound.
