Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Orin Bell
This is a large vintage Japanese orin bell for Buddhist altars. It contains a large bronze bowl with an animal skin-covered striker with a red lacquered wood handle. It rests on a red, purple, and white round silk pillow with a red tassel.
Singing bowls are sounded during ritual prayer. The orin bell sound can reach the Buddha in the Pure Land. It is also used to ward off people's evil spirits and convey prayers to the Buddha, ancestors, and the deceased through sound.
