Japanese Maigasa Umbrella
Whether paired with a beautiful kimono or in the hands of an elegant Geisha, Japanese traditional umbrellas (wagasa) are a popular fashion accessory as well as an eye-catching home decor piece. Maigasa, in particular, are used for performance by dancers.
This vintage Japanese umbrella is covered in thick washi paper in a spiral red and gold pattern (perfect for spinning). The headpiece at the very top is made of red vinyl fabric tied with a beige string. The inside frame is a natural bamboo color. The handle is a solid piece of bamboo in its natural state with a clear coat of lacquer.
