Japanese Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest
This is a Japanese sewing box, also called haribako. Finished with a glossy medium brown color, it displays gorgeous rippled wood grain. This tansu chest has five differently-sized drawers with simple metal hardware. The drawers are all lined with red velvety fabric.
Extending from the box itself is a pin stand that is covered by a small door. It also houses one of the small drawers beneath it. A second, larger compartment is on the backside of the chest with a lid. There is also a slot on the side of the pin cushion stand that was initially to house a small straight ruler for measuring (ruler not included). This beautiful piece can not only be used for storing sewing supplies, but jewelry, art supplies, or other trinkets.
