Vintage Japanese Wooden Lidded Tea Ceremony Box Chabako Inside 15x21x21cm X49
Vtg. Japanese Wooden Storage Box for Tea Ceremony
Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc.
This vintage lidded rectangular box is originally made for a small tea ceremony set, but is perfect for storing trinkets or use for display or other crafts/projects. The shelves and drawers typically found in a chabako are missing. There is a metal handle fixed to the top and a hanging handle on the door.
