Vintage Japanese Wooden Lacquered Sake Cup

This is a vintage Japanese wooden lacquered sake cup, Sakazuki. This cup is red and features a golden Gosan no kiri design on the top. Gosan no kiri design is 5 and 3 paulownia flowers on top of 3 paulownia leaves. It is the crest once used by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The cup has a golden edge and inscriptions on the back.

Sakazuki refers specifically to flat sake cups. Ochoko is a small cup that can be used to drink sake in one or two sips. Guinomi is a cup large enough to fit your nose when drinking sake.

  • Good condition considering its age. Some of the lacquer has peeled on the edge. Light scratches. Discoloration. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
