Vintage Japanese Bamboo Decorative Rake

This vintage Japanese bamboo decorative rake (kumade) features three masks for the following deities: Ebisu, Daikokuten, Okame (Ofuku). Ebisu and Daikokuten are part of the Seven Lucky Gods, and Okame is also a figure who brings luck and good fortune. A decorative wooden plaque (ema) with a snake is attached to the rake, as well as papers with the name of the shrine: Nangu Taisha.

Ema is a small wooden plaque used at Shinto shrines, and sometimes Buddhist temples, on which worshipers can write their wishes, hopes, and dreams. Once written, it is hung on a special wooden stand or tree where the kami (spirits or gods) are thought to receive them.
