Vintage Japanese Ceramic Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic small bowl (kobachi). Glazed with crackle gray, it has a brown edge and a picture of Japanese ume plum flowers this bowl on the inside. There is a tiny spout on the lip of this bowl lending it the name katakuchi, its use being from pouring out liquid from steamed vegetables to being used in tea ceremonies and for pouring sake. More modernly, these types of features are more for decorative purposes. In this case, the spout can also be used as a place to rest one's thumb when holding the bowl.
