Japanese Vintage Porcelain Sake Cup
This is a vintage Japanese porcelain sake cup. This particular type of cup is called a sakazuki, a wide-mouthed, footed, flat sake cup often used for ceremonial purposes. Sakazuki typically only holds a couple of sips of sake. It is white with a hand-painted flying crane, pine tree branches, and an orange sunrise over a subtle striped blue background. It has a worn gold-painted lip.
