This is a vintage Japanese Daruma piggy bank. Daruma is a timeless symbol of perseverance and luck. Originating from Japanese folklore in the 5th to 6th century, the Daruma doll is used to make wishes concerning specific goals. The kanji word on the body said" Good fortune".
