Japanese Straight Line Marking Woodworking Tool Sumitsubo Thread Ink Pot T325
Vtg Japanese Straight Line Marking Tool for Carpentry
This is a vintage Japanese carpentry tool used for marking straight lines for woodworking. It has an ink pot and a spinning wheel.
The thread is coiled on the wheel and black ink or Sumi is added into the ink pot. The thread is then pulled out through the ink, stretched taut over a surface, and snapped to leave behind a straight, easy-to-see line.
