Japanese Lacquerware Lidded box Fumibako Gobunshobako
This is a Japanese wooden letter box, Ofumibako. It is one of the Buddhist altar items. Put a letter in the box written by Rennyo Shonin of Hongwanji Temple. There is a drawer at the bottom of the altar, so put it in there and store it. If it doesn't fit, leave it next to the Buddhist altar. This is Aizu-Nuri lacquerware. The designed flower is a clematis (鉄仙 ), and it is a Maki-e drawn using gold powder.
