Vintage Japanese Houanden Temple Photograph
This is an original vintage early Showa Era black and white photograph of a Houanden temple, also known as an Imperial Shrine. Pre-WWII, these shrines were commonly found at schools and other educational institutions and interred a photograph of the current Emperor and Empress as well as a copy of "The Imperial Rescript on Education" (a Meiji Era document that is meant to be a philosophical and moral guide for Japanese citizens of the time).
