Vintage Japanese Ise Katagami Kimono Stencil w/ Wood Frame
In a simple wood frame with a glass panel, this Ise katagami textile stencil displays the image of a flying crane (tsuru) and minogame (legendary turtle). Cranes typically symbolize longevity and good fortune, while minogame turtles in particular are also a symbol of resilience and longevity. The designs are made up of cut dots and diamond shapes and set on a white background.
While katagami is typically used for printing images on fabrics such as kimono, it has become a popular item to frame and or further decorate for wall art. As such, its intricate designs made by hand-cutting the paper make it a gorgeous piece to use in home and office decor.
