Vtg Japanese Clay Cow Zodiac Decoration
This is a vintage Japanese clay figurine of a cow. It is lightweight and is painted a matte white color. There is a washi paper fan design on the side with pink and red plum blossoms and painted gold accents on the horns, nose, and side. It has a felt pad on the bottom to protect surfaces.
Cow, or ushi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
