Vtg Japanese Ceramic Ox Zodiac Decoration
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic figurine of a sitting ox in a satin black finish. It is signed on the bottom and comes in a wooden box.
Ox, or ushi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
