Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is a rustic gray, beige, and brown color with black kanji characters decorating the outside edge. It is raised on a pedestal with cutouts on the base. It has a shallow shape with a generously wide width made for summer tea ceremony. It allows the tea to cool slightly before drinking from the open air.

Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
