Vtg Japanese Ceramic Hare Zodiac Decoration
This is a vintage Japanese set of two ceramic figurines with a stand and a folding screen. The ceramic figurines represent rabbits in a cute style. They are in a pale green color mimicking jade. The figurines come with a black plastic stand, a gold and red decorative folding screen decorated with pine, bamboo and plum blossom, and a wooden sign with Japanese characters on it. This set comes in a paper box.
Rabbit, or usagi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
