Vtg Japanese Buddhist Prayer Beads Juzu w/ Box
This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist prayer rosary bracelet, Juzu. It is made of wooden beads as well as two small clear plastic beads. The main bead is a white plastic with a clear bead inserted inside. The whole chain is held together by a dark brown string braided at the base of the main bead and hangs down with a single brown tassel. It comes with the original box.
Japanese Buddhist rosary bracelets (Juzu or Nenju) are used for daily religious practices as well as at funerals and other Buddhist ceremonies. When using a rosary, hold it in your left hand. When you pray, put your hands together and place the prayer beads between your index finger and thumb. If the rosary is long, hold it in two rows. (How to hold varies by denomination).
