Japanese Buddhist Offering Stand Kuge Base Piece
This is a vintage offering stand called Kuge for the Buddhist altar in Japan. It is the base piece only. Cut in a hexagon shape, the wood is painted black and brushed gold. It is a utensil for offering rice cakes, fruits, Rakugan sweets, etc, and is mainly used by the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect of Buddhism.

- Fair condition. Front part of top surface cracked and loose. Piece between cut-outs on front broken and missing. Top crown and removable top piece missing (base only). Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
