Japanese Rice Offering Cup Buddhist Altar Fitting Butsugu
This is a Japanese rice offering cup, Buppanki, made for use in a Buddhist altar. This cup is small and made of sturdy metal and covered in 24K gold plate. In addition, it is decorated beautifully like a blossoming peony flower and contains other floral motifs along the stem and base.
The rice offered to Buddhist altars is called “Buppan”. Other things such as sake, mochi, etc are also offered at home and temple altars.
