Vintage Japanese Wooden Noh Mask
This is a vintage Japanese brushed clear lacquer wooden noh mask (noh-men). This character is the face of a jealous/angry female demon (hannya). Hannya is characterized by two pointed horns, an open mouth with sharp teeth, and round (often painted gold) eyes. It symbolizes jealousy and resentment and is applied to female characters when angry during a performance. This mask has a brown cord at the back for hanging. It can be used for all kinds of home and office decor.
