Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku W/ Wooden Box
This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features a picture of the Seven Lucky Gods which are Bihyamonten (God of financial luck), Hoteison (God of husband and wife harmony), Jyurojin (God of long life), Fukurokujyu (God of virtue and popularity), Daikokuten (God of good fortune and good luck), Ebisuten (God of fishing), Benzaiten (God of wisdom). Their names are written on the top part of the picture, along with names of temples and red seals. It is stored in a wooden box.
Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
