Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Scroll
This Japanese vintage paper hanging scroll (kakejiku) features an image of Emperor Hanazono who became a Buddhist monk and founded the basis for the Rinzai Zen Buddhism. It is a side scroll, or wakigake, part of a pair of scrolls to be displayed on each side of a central scroll or a statue. It is a powerful religious image, aimed to be at the center of an altar. This kakejiku is dark purple with a gold floral pattern. The image is orange, purple, green, gray.
