This Japanese vintage paper hanging scroll (kakejiku) represents Buddhist monk Shinran sitting and holding a juzu prayer bracelet in his hands. This scroll is an icon displayed in Japanese Buddhist home altars, Butsudan. It is a powerful religious image, aimed to be at the center of an altar. This kakejiku is black and gold with a floral pattern. The image is black, orange, red, green and blue and has an inscription on the top left.
