Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Kukai Wood Figurine
This is a Japanese vintage carved wood figurine of Kukai (or Kobo Daishi), the founder of the Shindon school in Japan and a very important figure of Japanese Buddhism. This wooden figurine is painted in ocre yellow and brown. Kukai is holding a vajra in his right hand and a juzu prayer beads bracelet in his left hand. The figurine is sitting on a lacquered wood stand in a classic Buddhist black and gold style.
