Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Lacquer Offering Table
This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist altar offering table (Maejyoku). It is stained a dark brown with a clear lacquer coating and has a removable top panel with lifted winged ends. It has a very simple design perfect for a more subtle altar arrangement.
There are two types of offering tables Maejyoku and Uwajyoku. Maejoku is placed in front of the Shumidan. It is used for 3 Gusoku (candle stand, flower vase, and incense burner). Uwajoku is placed in front of Amidanyorai. It is used for a flower vase, a rice cup, and an incense burner.
