Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku
This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features white flowers and a calligraphed poem on the left.
Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.

Good condition considering its age. One end cap is missing. Strings are missing. Large water stains. Tear on the top and the middle. Silk fabric is peeling on the back. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
