Vtg Japanese Haori Himo Kimono Accessory
This is a Japanese vintage braided silk haori himo. One of many different styles of kumihimo cords is a solid reddish-brown color with thicker braid accents on the top and bottom. This haori himo is made of two pieces knotted together in a square pattern that showcases all the intricate braid patterns. It comes with S-hooks to attach to the haori.
A haori himo is a decorative cord, chain, or string that holds the kimono's haori (jacket) closed and in position. There is a string tie type, a glass ball passed through a braided cord, and, recently, a magnetic type. They attach to the haori via loops on the jacket's collar using small clasps or hooks.
This piece was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya
