Vintage Wooden Japanese Daruma Figurine
This is a vintage Japanese daruma figurine carved from wood. it is an oblong shape, smooth with and handpainted face and a clear brushed lacquer coating. The character depicted is the famous monk of Zen Buddhism, Daruma Daishi. He is more modernly associated with daruma dolls made of paper mache that symbolize perseverance, luck, and goal-making.
