Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Snack Bowl

This is a Japanese vintage lacquered wooden snack bowl, or Kashiki, typically used for serving snacks, such as senbei crackers or sweets, to guests in one's home, business, etc. More elaborate and decorated varieties are also commonly used in tea ceremonies for serving and displaying traditional sweets called namagashi.
Stained a medium brown and brushed with a clear lacquer, this small, sturdy round bowl has high sides with a carved ring design on the inside and the outside bottom.  This beautiful piece provides both function and beautiful decor.
