Japanese Wooden Water Strainer for Tea Ceremony
This is a vintage Japanese traditional tea ceremony utensil called mizukoshi. It is used for straining dust or other debris from hot water from a teapot or chagama before it is used. This ladle is made entirely of lightweight wood with a long handle and a linen cloth fitted between the base and a tension ring (fabric is easily replaceable).
