Chinese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku

This vintage Chinese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features two colorful cranes standing under pine trees. This piece is titled, and it is signed with a name and a red seal. It has a label with the title and the name of the artist on the outside. 

Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
