Vintage Japanese Porcelain Sake Cup
This is a vintage Japanese Kutani porcelain sake cup. This particular type of cup is called wan or "bowl type" due to its resemblance to a rice bowl. In terms of size, it is also called ochoko. This beautiful imari sake cup is fully decorated with precise gold linework surrounding a shochikubai (Pine, plum blossom, bamboo) motif on a raised-texture blue dotted background. Each scene is beautifully illustrated with green, gold, and red. The inside is a grayish-beige. It has a red Kutani marking on the bottom.
