Vintage Japanese Rice Threshing Photograph
This is a vintage Japanese sepia-tone Showa-era photograph of a group of people threshing rice in a field. Threshing rice is the process of separating rice grains from the straw once it is harvested and dried. In this photo, they are smacking bundles of rice against a hard surface, then collect the remaining straw and stack them in giant piles which will then be bundled and processed into other useful items.
