Vintage Japanese School Group Rice Planting Photograph
This is an original vintage early Showa Era daily life photograph of a group of school children of varying ages participating in rice planting. The students wear a combination of light kimono/yukata and short pants working clothes with hats. Even in modern Japan, tasks such as gardening, cleaning, crafting, etc are skills that are taught to students at most levels of schooling whether for a dedicated class for life skills or, for example, the practical study of science. Elementary school students in rural areas still practice rice planting as a community activity even today!
