Vintage Japanese Paper Mache Noh Mask
This is a large vintage Japanese paper mache noh mask (noh-men) for decoration. This character is the face of a man named Hyottoko. This character is a man with a twisted, puckered mouth off to one side and a scarf tied around his head. He is said to be a comical character and often paired with Okame which is the female equivalent. In many performances, Hyottoko plays the role of a clown.
This particular mask is mostly brown with red, black, and green accents. There is a brown string at the back for hanging.
