Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wood Bento
This is a vintage Japanese lacquered bento lunch box called jubako. It is one-tier and a caramel brown, true to the shunkei-nuri style of lacquerware. The lid has a design of some carved lines in the center. It contains a partition for making four compartments. While it can be used for small meals, it can also be used as a sweets container or kashiki for sencha and tea ceremonies.
This was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya, Japan
