Japanese Hina Doll Furniture Tansu Chest
This is a Japanese vintage Hina doll furniture piece called tansu (dresser). It is larger than most pieces of its kind and painted in black lacquer with gold makie designs of peony flowers and vines. There are two braided silk cords with tassels. Thin metal pieces are used to decorate the front corners and edges as well as a faux plate for a lock on each drawer. The small hardware is made of same material. Five of the seven drawers can be pulled out and offer a small space for storage. There are two small sliding doors at the top with a space behind them for storage as well.
