Vtg Japanese Ceramic Tea Bowl w/Box

This is a Japanese vintage ceramic tea bowl, or chawan, in a dark brown color with a white hakeme (brush stroke) on the outside, and stamped flowers and lines topped by white glaze on the inside. This shallow shape with a generously wide width is for the summer tea ceremony. It allows the tea to cool slightly before drinking from the open air. There is a sign near the base. It is sold in a paper box, perfect for storage when not in use. This bowl can be used for tea ceremonies and daily use. It is an elegant piece, suitable for any season.
