Vintage Japanese Ceramic Small Bowl

This item is a vintage Japanese ceramic small bowl, or kobachi. This weighty small bowl is a textured brown on the outside with a brown and slight greenish tint on the inside. The inside of the bowl features a very simple line pattern at the bottom.
There is a tiny spout on the lip of this bowl lending it the name katakuchi, its use being from pouring out liquid from steamed vegetables to being used in tea ceremonies and for pouring sake. More modernly, these types of features are more for decorative purposes. In this case, the spout can also be used as a place to rest one's thumb when holding the bowl.
Kobachi are small to medium-sized bowls to serve portions of steamed side dishes, salads, or individual dishes while eating hotpot (nabe).
