 Vintage Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Drawer

This item comes from a Japanese vintage wooden Buddhist altar cabinet. This shallow, long drawer had a mixture of brown brushed lacquer, black, and gold with a solid black interior. There are bronze plate embellishments on the corners for added detail.

In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a "small temple in the home".
