Vintage Japanese Wooden Storage Box
Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc.
This is a vintage Japanese open wooden box coated in a dark brown brushed lacquer. There is a stamped black mon or kamon symbol of two birds inside a bamboo laurel wreath. On the bottom corners are black metal decoration as well as a decorative metal plate on the front top. There was a lid at one time, but it is missing. This unique box is perfect for general storage and for home and office decor.
